LONDON CABS GOING ELECTRIC
The UK Government has discussed switching London's black cabs to electric power with Chinese carmaker Geely Automobile.
Geely's chairman Li Shufu first discussed electric taxis with London mayor Boris Johnson at the Beijing Olympic Games last August.
Chairman Li Shufu whose company co-owns black London taxi-maker Manganese Bronze confirmed with Daily Planet Media that a plan for electric cabs in London had been presented to UK government officials.
The plan involves having London taxis electric to reduce carbon emissions. A Shanghai-based joint venture with the UK business would produce the cars in China.
