SNOWY MOUNTAINS VULNERABLE
Big changes are forecast for Australia's famed Snowy Mountains as climate change takes hold.
A New South Wales state government forum on climate change has told business leaders and community representatives to be prepared for the effects of global warming, especially in the sensitive alpine areas.
Climate experts predict that average high and low temperatures could vary by up to 3Cby 2050 which world would have devastating effects on the region.
The expected temperature rises would result in more summer storms and less winter rainfall that would affect both farming and recreation skiing.
New South Wales climate change director Jenny McAllister said the "Snowies" were Australia's most vulnerable ecosystem.
