As winter arrives the Earth will be a million miles closer to the sun and sun spot activity is picking up so we might have a warm winter. With World War III on the horizon it might be a very warm winter indeed! Last winter we had our normal two or three cold snaps in Kenai, Alaska with temperature got below 10 degrees F. In order to understand climate you also have to look at stellar orbits. Big stars like Sirius A & B with 3.5 solar masses heat large areas of space and we are heading back toward it at 7.5 kilometers per second.
