Apparently oil is continuously being regenerated, from deep within the earth, which is a strange concept after having been indoctrinated with the fossil fuel theory.

Of course you're right. However, the scarcity issue is being artificially created to drive up prices because as any economist knows, the price of a commodity increases as it becomes scarce. Therefore there are many oil wells around the world which aren't being developed for this reason.
To push it a step further, this is the reason free energy has been suppressed, because if people had a free energy machine and there is plenty of stories about how this line of discovery has been thwarted at every turn and inventors threatened and harassed, it would hurt vested interests in the oil business.

The UK produced an average of 2.72 million barrels a day (mbpd) in 1999, hitting a high of 3.1 mbpd in August. But by June 2005 this had fallen to 1.7 mbpd, a drop of 34%. What is also interesting about the UK's declining oil output is that it has been rather consistent. In 2000, production was down 8.1% from its 1999 high, then falling 6.8% in 2001. The decline slowed to 0.5% in 2002, prompting calls that an output 'rebound' was on the cards. But 2003 saw an 8.8% decline, rising to 10% in 2004. This year has seen a similarly startling decline. In February, year-on-year levels were down 13%, rising to 17% in March.
Discovery Shortage "The UK will eventually have to import," Mike Wittner argues. "Declines will continue. There is only one new field of any size--the Buzzard field--set to come online. Otherwise it's just bits and pieces." The International Energy Agency (IEA) has forecast a slight pick-up in UK output next year to 1.85 mbpd but it too sees a continuing decline to 1.66 mbpd in 2007. Even the UK Offshore Operators Association (UKOOA) says that declines are inevitable. Even with increased spending of about �4.3bn a year, it believes the decline will still be about 7%. A new round of oil field licenses handed out this year may also fail to stem the fall in crude production.
Gas Solution? As Britain becomes a net importer of oil, as it first did this summer, not only does falling output cost money. So does the very expensive energy--oil, gas and liquefied gas--bought to replace it. In this respect, government figures do not provide much hope for North Sea gas output either. Output fell 5.5% in the second quarter of 2005, according to DTI figures, while imports increased by 53.5%. "Gas has replaced nearly all our power generation," says Dr. Smith. "But gas has its own problems. UK gas imports are increasing dramatically but otherwise there is no [other] significant energy source.

Try to imagine what would be going on if the world really was running out of oil due to the limits of nature. The reasonable scenario would be that the number of active drilling rigs operating would be at historic highs as the world engages in a desperate last ditch effort to find enough oil from smaller and smaller fields. Also, it would be logical to expect that the success rate of the active drilling rigs would be in a steady decline and would be at historic lows. How does this compare to the current situation? It doesn't. Active rigs are something on the order of one third of historic highs. Also, success rates are rising, reaching a historic high last year. There is a very logical explanation for current events. Oil was in over supply and at very low prices from 1985 to 2000. There was no point for the OPEC countries to find new oil because they had to shut in existing production to hold prices. Elsewhere economics were just unfavorable for exploration. During this time, the exploration infrastructure (rigs, experienced people, etc.) crumbled. Large projects, such as Canadian oil sand development, were stopped. It takes time to rebuild the exploration capability and five years has not been enough. Of course the incompetence of governments and state owned oil companies also enters the picture.

When one realises the utmost derelict state of present Geological knowledge, and fallacy of all, indeed, Official theories, I think you should give Carole at least the benefit of the doubt.
As it is, she is quite correct and oil & coal ( except Peat & Lignite ) are of a-biotic origin. The tale of Carboniferous 350 millions years ago based on Lyell 's delusion, as well as the Cretaceous coming in line some 140 millions years ago should have raised your suspicion, if you had a few ounces of Geological Acumen !!!
Indeed in a sequence Carbon of the Cretaceous will developed before Coal of the Carboniferous ! Logic indeed according to the True Geology ... but nevertheless this is a complete inverted sequence which is taught in the Universilities of Denmark ! Oil is most assuredly a "fossil fuel" based upon its biomarker content, geochemical "fingerprinting" back to its source rock, and its distribution in time ans space. It is conceivable that some hydrocarbon GAS has a deep Earth origin, but, given the composition of measured volcanic gases it does not seem that a deep origin is anywhere near the "whole story".

If you choose to hide your head in the sand and pretend that oil is ABIOGENIC, then there is no need for concern and all our mental energies need only be spent in rooting out this vast conspiracy that only a few - the ILLITERAT - can recognizeI. Perhaps you will also be able to find some of the socks that disappear in my washing machine.
If, however, you choose to read the literature, follow discovery trends, read public domain analyses ,oil company reports, USGS studies, etc, etc., and appreciate the BIOGENIC nature of oil, then sit down with a glass of brandy to sort out what it all means, you will probably come to the inescapable conclusion that there is in essence a finite amount of oil to be discovered, developed and produced at any point in time and that the rate of reservoir re-filling, though it undoubtedly exists at some (not all!) fields, cannot keep pace with the rate of extraction.
As I mentioned above, we will not absolutely run-out of oil, but we will, in our lifetime, experience what some call "The big turnover", i.e., when new supply cannot keep up with demand. Many researchers haves put this event at circa 2010 - 2015. Myself, I don't think it'll occur until a bit after that ( but I've always been optimistic ) - say 2020.
I fear that comments like yours will not help the situation and lead people into thinking that some dark conspiracy is all that keeps us from an eternal life inside a Normal Rockwell Saturday Evening Post cover. We must all understand the hole we have dug for ourselves and reach some sort of consensus as to how to get out. This would have to come from the supply side as well as the demand side and be truly multinational. It will be painful.

That would be nice -- but the solution quite clearly does have to be mainly supply side, and equally clearly does not have to be multi-national.
China is building nuclear power plants, forming relationships with oil producing countries like Venezuela, and building up its military. China controls its media, and any environmentalists who try to kick up a fuss will soon find themselves in a prison factory making teddy bears for the export market. China is going to meet its growing energy demands -- of that there is no doubt!
Meanwhile, Sweden & Germany are shutting down nuclear power plants, and a planned wind farm in Scotland has been cancelled in case it interferes with bird migration. Not everyone is serious about meeting their future energy needs.
China today has a very high speed magnetic levitation train running the 25 miles between Shanghai and its airport -- built & operating, while the US is still piddling about with limited research. Done that. A very large body of literature suggests the world has a finite amount of fossil fuel.
I did have a look at one of the linked articles for interest. The headline may sound impressive "Oil fields are Refilling... Naturally - Sometimes Rapidly". But if you were excited by the headline, you must surely have been disappointed by a careful read of the article. If you look at the article closely, it says there seems to be a small refilling effect observed from more oil seeping up from deeper reserves. But unfortunately this hasn't been observed in most reservoirs.

According to the vialls article at http://www.vialls.com/wecontrolamerica/peakoil.html, the oil seeps up from deep within the earth through porous rocks and crevices.
When the oil well is first capped, the oil pumps out fairly quickly but after time it slows, which is due to blockages similar to how any filter will clog up. They have devised a way around this problem, which is to perform something called a reaming operation, which involves a long tube with some sort of detractable prongs on the end. They insert this reamer into the oil well and use it to dislodge debris. After reaming out the oil flow apparently gets restored to original quantity.

If you peel away the 'hints', 'seems', the ifs and maybes, and all that vagueness and contradiction, the article simple doesnt support headline. The article even admits "Also not known... is whether the injection of new oil from deeper strata is of any economic significance, whether there will be enough to be exploitable"
