Wind energie and snow?

I live in an area with very low winds for the year except winter mths. I also live in Canada and don't like to shovel.
What I want to do is simply build a wind gene and hook it to those heat wires ppl but on their roof to prevent ice dams on the roof.
Was wondering if I install the heat wires under the driveway by a few inches and hook it up to the gene. What till I need for it to all connect together? and will it work? Thanks in advance.

I think you should move ;-).

Ya know, it might just work for the roof stuff, but...

The underground stuff, for walkways and driveways throws ALOT of heat, because it has to warm up the stone/pavement above it. So to throw alot of heat, it has to consume alot of electricity. Sorry amigo, but not likely to work for anything resembling a reasonable price.
Quite a few years ago, some of my fellow contractors were working on the Cowpland home (the Corel founder), and he had alot of that put in. Nothing but a nightmare, that whole project, but especially the heated walkways.

You need 100 BTU per square foot aprox.
You need a nuclear generator in your basement.
I am installing hydronic tubing in mine and hope I don't have to shovel too much.
If you don't completely dry the snow up, you got ice.

Last heated drive way I did was a loading dock for a hospital, 60 amps at 480v is what was needed for the double truck wide space.
Most wind machines I see are less than a 1000 watts.
