adding lens to solar panels

Has anyone tried using cheap plastic lenses and aimed them at the solar panels? Does this seem to keep the output more steady throughout the day? Maybe a really big cheap plastic lens 4 times the size of the solar panel. This could maybe get past those cloudy day blues. Guthrie Cooper

Part of the problem is heat--solar panels generally have lower output when they get too hot. Besides that the focused beam would likely damage the panels.
